NSW: Shock Nationals coup leaves NSW coalition in disarray

SYDNEY, Jan 14 AAP - The New South Wales National Party dumped leader Ian Armstrong today
in a shock move designed to win back disillusioned bush voters just 10 weeks from the state
election.
A party room meeting of the Nationals' 15 lower house MPs voted 11-4 to elevate Mr
Armstrong's former deputy George Souris to the leadership. John Turner was appointed his
deputy.
The coup, coming only a month after Peter Collins was ousted as Liberal leader by Kerry
